Guy's Cliffe
One of the most chilling places in all of the Barony, this ruined mansion stands high above the waters surrounding the Village of Blazon Rose, amidst a jungle of unkempt vegetation. Here ye may meet up with the ghost of Felice, who fell in love with Earl Guy, the bloodthirsty tenth-century hero who having preformed countless brave deeds to win the hand of Felice, abandoned her in order to live a saintly life as a hermit in the caves above the waters. Although Felice provided Guy with alms, she only discovered his identity after he had died, whereupon she jumped to her death from the precipice above. Ye will feel an unnatural chill within the roofless rooms of the mansion, but there are other mysteries here too. Beneath the floor of the adjoining chapel lies the dungeon, reached by six steps which end in a platform ten feet above the floor, the entire chamber being hewn from solid rock. Here a prisoner would be utterly forsaken, no breath of air or gleam of light reaching him as he lay on the damp rock floor without hope of escape. Perhaps it is the tormented souls of those once confined and forgotten here that gives Guy's Cliffe its forbidding reputation.
If ye are here on a peaceful eve, ye may hear the tinkling of bells on a span of horses, giving ye the sense of calmness, but beware, for with the sound, comes a ghostly procession ascending the hill, on the way to Blackly Hill with one Piers Gaveston. He was beheaded on that spot. Ye may hear him cry out to help him. Will you be fool enough to go to his aide?
